Hot dogs are better on the grill

Summer heat can affect pets in many of the same ways it affects people.  Avoiding overheating is as simple as remembering the basics.

  • Provide your pets with lots of shade and cold water to keep cool and hydrated.
  • The hottest part of the day is usually between 2-4 so restrict outdoor activities to early morning or late afternoon.
  • Consider bringing your outdoor pets indoors during the “dog days” of summer.
  •  Is the pavement too hot for your bare feet? Then it is probably too hot for your pet’s feet!  Why not get your pet some cute shoes for summer to protect their paws?
  • NEVER, EVER leave your pet in a hot car, not even for a minute! In some states it is illegal!
